INTER-NOISE 2017
Ms Grace Kwok attended the INTER-NOISE 2017 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre held on 27-30 August 2017 in the capacity of Chairman of Hong Kong Institute of Acoustics and was one of the officiating guests of the opening ceremony. Ms Kwok delivered a welcome speech and said, “Hong Kong is a densely populated city. Like many overseas cities with dense population, noise pollution is one of the local environmental issues that have come to our attention for years. While Hong Kong’s built environment brings us lots of challenges to tackle noise issues, it provides local acoustics professionals with opportunities to gain unique experience in offering innovative noise mitigation solutions that are tailored for this compact city, ranging from noise barriers in the past to acoustic windows in some recently developed residential buildings.”
Besides, Ms Kwok and AEC representatives arranged for two separate visits on 25 and 31 August 2017 respectively. We invited acoustics experts from Denmark to join us in visiting HSMC Jockey Club Residential Colleges, where we were involved in designing acoustic windows. We also visited other buildings with noise insulation, including the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Homantin Student Halls of Residence, King Tai Court and Wah Ha Estate. We treasured this opportunity to exchange insights and ideas of acoustic design with the overseas experts.
INTER-NOISE 2017, the 46th International Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering, was organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Acoustics and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in conjunction with NVH Branch, Society of Automotive Engineering China and the Acoustical Society of China. It aims to provide the best opportunity for acoustics professionals to learn about and share their work with colleagues from around the world.
